Just before school started, in those dreamy days of summer holiday catch ups with friends and having no schedule, I got to spend some time with a gorgeous family and their new kitten, Cinder. She arrived in December, so there was plenty of time for her to settle into her new home with her humans and dog brother. Her girl owners are a bit smitten by their new family member. My daughter was equally so! It was hard to leave this little bundle behind! Pets are such a big part of your family. Make sure that you include them in your next home session.

When I met fellow photographer Janine Ward online, I was impressed by her beautiful landscape photography. I was also excited to see that she was branching into portrait sessions and that we had a similar style. I decided to send her a message and see if she may be interested in photographing each others family- a swap. An opportunity to connect with a fellow photographer and update our own family photos. I was obviously over the moon when she replied saying that she'd love to do it.
We met on the Cup Weekend and spent a leisurely hour or two at The Briars in Mornington, getting to know each other and capturing life as it happened. Meet The Ward Family... When Father's Day was approaching, this mum had the great idea of booking in a shoot of their gorgeous boys for her husband. Mum even snuck in on a few of the shots. What dad wouldn't want some up to date beautiful photos of his favourites on his wall and desk?
It was such a delight to meet with this family. Rachel and Luke were so relaxed in welcoming me into their home, little Ben was happy to go with the flow and Alice, with her sparkly and fun personality was ready to direct us all! :)
We chatted, played and enjoyed a dance performance from Alice at home before heading to one of their favourite local cafes for their regular coffees and treats. I love documenting this everyday stuff for families. It is a great reminder always to me that there is beauty in the everyday and to snuggle into those that we love. I love the beach in winter. In fact, despite the cold, the wet and the mess that it brings, winter is a beautiful time to be outside and updating the family photos. I took my own advice last weekend.
We bundled our little two into their snuggly gear and took off for a few nights of being sandy and away from home. While there I got out my camera and snapped some new photos of my kids. So good for the soul! This family... Warm. Loving. Fun. Joyful. Cheeky. It was such a pleasure to be in their presence and to capture a snippet of the love and closeness that they share. There was cuddling and dancing. Hiding and chasing. Quiet and loud. Tickles and stillness.
We made a last minute change of location due to threatening weather and I am so glad that we did. Our new setting was gorgeous and suited these little girls perfectly! I loved photographing and editing this session and by the end I felt like I'd made some new friends. xx Alex has grown so much since I first met him as a tiny newborn. I love being able to watch little people grow up in front on my lens! Alex is full of character and spunk. We had a lovely afternoon playing at the park and rummaging in the bush with his best friend, Josie the dog and his parents. Can't get enough of those big blue eyes and dimples!
When Nic, a workmate of mine approached me asking if I could take some photos of her extended family, the answer was always going to be yes. Her husband's family were gathering in Melbourne to celebrate several big birthdays and Mother's Day was coming up too, which meant a perfect time to update the photos. Lucky for us, the ANZAC Day weather was perfect as well!
A personal highlight of this session was to watch how this family related to each other. They were so relaxed and is was a delight for me to observe the warmth and fun of their interactions. Twins, E and K have just turned 5 and they have changed so much since I first met them, as tiny premmies dependent on oxygen! Right now they are best friends, full of life and energy as you will see below. Thank you Rheumer's for letting me share in your family on this day. x I had such fun photographing these guys- I'm not sure that I've giggled so much in a session before! Parents, Sonia and David with their children Bella and Ben were so full of energy and spunk which lead to a wonderfully energetic session. Some special moments were captured when we took a breather from all the laughing and games during our session too. What a treasure to remember this session and this lovely family tonight.
Back in December I offered a limited number of mini-sessions in the lead up to Christmas. It so happened that two sisters booked in and we made the most of taking some photos of them together for the start. It was such a pleasure to photograph and get to know this this beautiful family for a mini-shoot back in December. From the moment we met it was fun and relaxed, with El keen to show me her dinosaur and get started with the photos! Pat was full of gorgeous smiles and I just LOVE the cuddly moments that were captured between the kids and their loving parents. Caroline and little Nina were so easy to capture as well. Those beautiful eyes and smiles from both girls were so delightful to see and photograph. I especially love being able to get mums and their children in photographs together as so often they are the ones capturing everyone else.
